Mixed Martial Arts in Kenya is a growing sport with a developing community of athletes, gyms, coaches, officials, and enthusiasts. As the sport continues to expand, so does the need for modern infrastructure capable of supporting its administration, athletes, institutions, and broader ecosystem.
To support this evolution, Tideflash Software Solutions has partnered with the Kenya Mixed Martial Arts Federation (KEMMAF) to develop a digital ecosystem designed to modernize how mixed Martial Arts is administered, represented, and experienced in Kenya.
The first version of this ecosystem has now been deployed, bringing together a public-facing KEMMAF website and a secure administrative system into one connected digital platform.
More Than a Website
The KEMMAF project was conceived as more than the development of an institutional website.
At its core, the platform is intended to provide digital infrastructure for the Federation as it builds its organizational capacity and establishes more structured systems for managing the sport.
The ecosystem consists of two interconnected applications:
The KEMMAF Website - the public facing platform through which fighters, gyms, fans, media, partners, and the wider public can interact with the Federation.
The KEMMAF Admin System - the secure back-office platform through which Federation staff manage registrations, fighter and gym records, licensing, disciplinary processes, medical records, content, and other operational activities.

This architecture means that information published to the public website is managed through a centralized administrative environment, helping establish a more consistent and controlled digital record for the Federation.
A Digital Home for Kenyan MMA
The new KEMMAF website provides a central digital destination for the Kenyan MMA community.
Visitors can explore information about the Federation, follow sanctioned events, read news and articles, browse photo galleries, learn about combat styles and weight classes, and discover affiliated fighters and gyms.

The platform includes searchable and filterable directories of licensed fighters and affiliated gyms, allowing users to discover athletes and training institutions across the Federation's ecosystem.
Fighter profiles can contain relevant sporting information such as competitive level, weight class, combat styles, and gym affiliation, while gym profiles provide a digital presence for affiliated training institutions.
The website also provides dedicated legal and informational resources, including the Federation's rules of conduct, privacy policy, terms of service, and cookie policy.
Together, these features create a more structured digital identity for Kenyan Mixed Martial Arts.
Bringing Registration Into the Digital Age
One of the most important components of the platform is digital registration.
Fighters can submit their registration applications online, providing relevant personal, sporting, identification, and supporting information. The registration process incorporates validation rules designed around the Federation's requirements, including age-based requirements for amateur athletes.

Gyms and clubs can similarly submit applications through an online registration process covering organizational details, ownership, coaching, facilities, location, and other relevant information.

Importantly, registration does not automatically make an applicant a licensed fighter or affiliated gym.
Applications are submitted to the KEMMAF administrative system, where authorized Federation staff can review and make the appropriate decision before approved records are published to the public directories.
This creates a digital workflow connecting:
Application -> Review -> Approval -> Federation Record -> Public Profile
That workflow provides the foundation for a more structured approach to membership, affiliation, licensing, and federation administration.
A Dedicated Digital Environment for Fighters and Gyms
The platform also introduces secure portals for licensed fighters and affiliated gyms.
Through the Fighter Portal, athletes can manage their profiles, track application status, access medical records, manage licenses, download license certificates and printable license cards, view disciplinary records, submit appeals, and report incidents with supporting documentation.

The Gym Portal provides affiliated gyms and clubs with similar capabilities, including profile management, application tracking, access to compliance documents, disciplinary records, appeals, and incident reporting.

These portals are an important step toward moving the relationship between the Federation and its stakeholders from predominantly manual processes toward structured digital interaction.
Technology as an Enabler of the Sport
From a technology perspective, the project was designed around the principle that the digital platform should evolve alongside the Federation.
The first deployment therefore represents a foundation rather than an endpoint.
Future capabilities can build upon this infrastructure as the Federation grows, including additional athlete services, competition management, rankings, certification, membership services, notifications, digital identification, sponsor engagement, and other forms of sports administration.
Supporting Local Talent Through Technology
For Tideflash, the KEMMAF project also represents something broader than a technology engagement.
The development of the KEMMAF ecosystem forms part of our wider mission to demonstrate what local technology talent can build for local institutions, industries, and communities.
Kenya has a growing generation of young developers, designers, entrepreneurs, athletes, creators, and technology professionals. Building meaningful digital products locally creates opportunities for these talents to participate in solving real problems within their own communities.
The intersection between technology and sports presents a particularly important opportunity.
Sports organizations require systems for administration, communication, athlete development, data management, events, licensing, commercial engagement, and community participation. These are all areas where locally developed technology can make a meaningful difference.
By working with KEMMAF, Tideflash is contributing to the development of a digital sports ecosystem while simultaneously demonstrating the capacity of Kenyan technology professionals to design, engineer, deploy, and maintain systems for national-level institutions.
Promoting Local Sports and Digital Innovation
The project also reflects Tideflash's belief that technology should not exist independently from the communities it serves.
The growth of Mixed Martial Arts in Kenya requires more than athletes and competitions. It requires an ecosystem around those athletes - gyms, coaches, officials, administrators, sponsors, partners, fans, media, technology providers, and other stakholders.
Digital infrastructure can help connect these parts of the ecosystem.
A centralized platform can make it easier to discover athletes and gyms, access official information, follow events, submit applications, manage federation records, and establish more structured relationships between stakeholders.
For a developing sport, this digital layer can become an important component of institutional growth.
A Foundation for the Future of Kenyan MMA
The first version of the KEMMAF platform is an important milestone, but it is only the beginning.
As KEMMAF continues to establish and expand its national ecosystem, the digital platform can evolve with it.
The long-term vision is to build technology that supports not only administration, but the wider development of Mixed Martial Arts in Kenya - creating better digital experiences for athletes and gyms while providing the Federation with the infrastructure required to manage a growing national sporting ecosystem.
For Tideflash, this partnership represents the intersection of three priorities:
Technology. Local Talent. Sports Development.
Through the KEMMAF ecosystem, we are proud to contribute to the modernization of Kenyan sports administration, support the growth of Mixed Martial Arts, create opportunities for local technology talent, and demonstrate how locally built technology can become infrastructure for national development.
Building Locally. Innovating Locally. Growing Together.
The deployment of the first KEMMAF digital platform is one step in a longer journey.
As the Federation grows, so will the technology supporting it.
And as Kenya's technology and sporting communities continue to evolve, Tideflash remains committed to building digital infrastructure that enables local organizations, empowers local talent, and creates new possibilities for the industries and communities they serve.
